The falling leaves and changing colors on the trees is such a beautiful sight to see! And, add to that cooler temps? Yes and pleeease! Yet, with all of this beauty, there are some things that are not as welcoming. SAD! Yep, the thief of autumn joy and relative of 'winter blues'.
What is SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)?
It's a type of depression. It happens during certain seasons of the year, most often fall or winter. It is thought that shorter days and less daylight may set off a chemical change in the brain leading to symptoms of depression. (John Hopkins Medicine)
But, here are some ways to lessen the affects of Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Maximize Sunlight Exposure
Light Therapy
Maintain a Consistent Sleep Schedule
Stay Active and Engaged
Monitor Vitamin D Levels
